Machik Labdron (1055-1153) was the founder of the Chod ‘Cutting’ tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. With delicate features, here she is one-faced, two-armed, and brilliant white in color. Her upraised right hand plays a double-sided damaru drum, while her left hand holds an upturned bell at her hip. Dancing upon a multi-colored lotus and moon disk, she is naked, youthful, and adorned with golden ornaments, pearls, and a gold tiara of five dried human skulls. She is surrounded by sky-blue nimbus.
In light of the rising cost of original thangka paintings, we are pleased to offer these thangka reproductions which are printed on canvas and enhanced with the addition of delicate strokes of golden paint by a skilled artist.
Measures 29cm x 39 cm, 65 cm x 100 cm with brocade.
