Overview
An Altar Chalice is a special cup, a vessel for special occasions. This ceremonial goblet has a impressed pentacle opposite a stag with pentacle, both un-glazed in an iron wash. Framing these on the bowl are four large cobalt blue oak leaves. On the brown slip banded base are Incised a pattern of the rune Thurisaz, the rune of Thor. Above a textured raised finger ridge. This chalice has my smooth buttermilk glaze, which shows the iron spots of reduction flame firing. Lined with the same glaze it is easy to clean and great for your table or your altar.
I make these as one of a kind because I like each one to be different. This is a perfect size for at least six to ten people in ceremony or a toast at 7.5 inches tall, by 4 inches wide at the base. Holds 16 ounces. It is thrown in two pieces and joined, light and comfortable in the hand.
