Here, we have an absolutely stunning, hand forged, Damascus Steel, boline/working knife, with a beautiful etched camel bone and hard wood handle, complemented with a brass guard and a brass butt cap. Overall, this beauty is approximately 8.50-inches long, with an approximately 4.0-inches long blade, and an approximately 4.50-inches long handle.
The beautiful, approximately 4.0-inches long, and approximately 4.85 mm thick, blade is made from 1095 high carbon steel and 15N20 nickel carbon steel, and the resulting bar is folded over and over and over again, until the desired number of layers are achieved. In the case of this boline/working knife, there are 384 layers in the beautiful Damascus pattern. The oil tempered blade has been given excellent heat treatment, and so possesses truly excellent edge holding and retention, with 58-60 HRC of the blade edge. This boline/working knife also has excellent hand grinds on both sides of the blade. The edges are sharpened at 20 degrees. This is a REAL Damascus Steel knife, and does NOT have a merely acid etched pattern on the blade. It has been hand forged in the USA, without the use of any CNC machining, whatsoever.
The beautifully designed and crafted, approximately 4.50-inches long, handle is made from etched camel bone and hard wood, and complimented with a brass guard and a brass butt cap. The camel bone portion of the handle features a lovely etched design that encircles the handle, as well as a mosaic pin on one side of the handle. The grain of the hard wood on this handle is particularly lovely, and the wood grain, in combination with the etched camel bone, gives this handle a truly rich and beautiful appearance. In addition, this is a rock solid handle, with an excellent grip, that feels fabulous in the hand.
Moreover, since Camel is powerful spirit animal, being able to call upon the spirit of the camel whose bone is in this handle is a real advantage to a magical practitioner. Indeed, what spirit animal could possibly be better when works needs to be done, or a journey of some kind is beckoning, than Camel?
In fact, as a spirit animal, Camel brings diverse and highly useful gifts, including the ability to withstand a long and possibly difficult journey (whether a metaphorical, spiritual, or an actual journey) with both fortitude and grace. Camel is excellent at teaching us to conserve our most valuable resources, and to use them wisely for our own sake, as well as for the sake of others. For example, a camel can survive for quite some time–even under the most difficult circumstances–on little food and water, due to the fact that it stores fat–which is filled with hydrogen atoms–in its hump. Then, because of its ingenious metabolic system, the camel can regulate and conserve its water supply over a long period of time. This not only allows a camel to survive long journeys in conditions as harsh as those in the desert, but it also allows others to survive, as well, by having the ability to endure the journey, the humility to carry the burdens of others, and the nobility to retain its own dignity and grace. Indeed, “[t]he Hebrew Gimel…suggests travel, communication, commerce as well as coexistence and partnership. The camel (Gimel) is a “ship of the desert” and is connected with the High Priestess because she too is an island of bounty and transports her abundance of knowledge in the deserts of disillusion and ignorance.”* And, whether the journey is spiritual, metaphorical, or actual, Camel never shies away from the hard work necessary to complete it, while still retaining its own health and well-being.
This is a solid knife that will serve you well, no matter the task at hand, and it would make an ideal boline–the traditional working knife of the magical practitioner.
Traditionally, while athames were used to direct energy only, bolines were used to inscribe candles, chop or cut herbs or small pieces of wood, cut rope, gather offerings from the garden, and handle the typical cutting and/or chopping tasks that were required before, during, and after a ritual or other magical practice. And, they traditionally had curved blades. Today, however, modern, magical practitioners use a variety of different knives for these tasks, and this solid knife would make both a wonderfully versatile and an easily portable boline.
This is a gorgeous, well-made, high-quality knife, and it comes with a beautiful, extra-thick, leather, hand-tooled and hand-stitched sheath that can be worn on a belt. The knife will arrive oiled, “shipping” sharp (that is, safely sharpened for those customers who are unaccustomed to handling blades with razor sharp edges), and carefully packaged. We are confident that this boline/working knife will serve its new owner well for many years to come, and become a treasured altar tool that can be handed down to the next generation of magical practitioners.
The knife and sheath will be individually wrapped and included in the shipping box. We never ship our knives in their sheaths, since the sheaths can pick up moisture during travel, and we never want the knife blade to rest against a moist sheath. For this reason, we recommend that knives not be stored for long periods of time in their sheaths. Sheaths can retain moisture, and moisture can cause rust to form on the steel blades. So, while it is perfectly fine to leave a clean, dry knife in its dry sheath for a few days when not in use, we recommend that knives not be stored in their sheaths.
NOTE: We do NOT sell knives to anyone under the age of 18. By purchasing this knife, or any knife that we sell, then, you are certifying that you are at least 18 years old.
Bone and Horn Handles (Please Note): All natural bone (and, to a lesser degree, natural horn) is prone to having cracks and/or ares in which the color differs from the predominant color of the bone (horn), as well as natural scuff marks. These natural cracks, areas of discoloration, and scuff marks can appear to be damage or staining, respectively, especially to someone who has not handled much natural bone (horn).
Before purchasing a knife/sword with a natural bone (or horn) handle, please examine our listing photos closely for cracks in the bone (horn) and/or areas of discoloration and/or scuff marks. Then, if you find any, be sure that these areas meet with your approval before purchasing the knife/sword. We always show close-up photos of natural bone (and horn) handles, and we try to include close-ups of all cracks, changes in color, and/or scuff marks. Moreover, you can use the zoom function to get a close look at all of our listing photos. Thank you!

So, please contact your local Post Office, to learn the amount of such charges, if any, before purchasing from a seller in the U.S. We do NOT want you to be surprised by charges upon the arrival of your package.

Very beautiful and extremely sharp knife! A bit heavier than expected, but I appreciate that about a folding knife..I don’t want anything that feels flimsy. Fast shipping and the seller communicated very well. This shop is “local” to me, as I’m from Oregon.
